Deadbolt didn't work. Room was supposed to be non-smoking but obviously had a smoker in there previously. In fact, there was a heavy duty fan running in room when we arrived. Stains on wall in bathroom that looked like someone had urinated on walls. Staff was not friendly, in fact, didn't seem to care anything about us or job, showed no expression and looked (perhaps) bored. Office and breakfast in rooms on first floor since lobby closed for some reason. Breakfast wasn't good. Step near top of stairs on 2nd floor looked like it was collapsing. Thought price was ridiculously high for such a low class place. Only stayed there since it was close to a concert we were attending. Sure won't do it again! Will definitely stay somewhere else, whether we spend more or not. Safety, cleanliness, friendly staff, good breakfast -- things like this are important even though the Wolftrap Hotel didn't think so.

  • Inexpensive but Misleading and Unreliable

This hotel is inexpensive, given the area where it is located. It is reasonably clean and reasonably comfortable although it needs refurbishing from its circa 1970's furnishings and fixtures. BUT, if you rely on using hotel's internet connection, you may be disappointed. Before I checked in, I doublechecked with the front desk personnel to make sure that the hotel's internet service worked well and was assured that it did. I had counted on filing some important reports by email in the evening using my laptop and the hotel's internet connection, but I couldn't get online. After checking to make sure it wasn't a problem with my laptop, I went to the desk in the lobby to report the problem. The desk clerk cheerfully told me that this problem ""happens all the time because there are too many people in the hotel trying to go online at the same time."" The clerk suggested I try again ""in an hour or so,"" and that was the sum total of the clerk's help. I was NEVER able to get only that evening, and I changed hotels the next day. What could the clerk have done? Nothing. What could the hotel do? Update and enhance its internet service, and don't mislead guests into believing that just because it has internet service, the guest will be able to use it. Sometimes it is better to pay a little extra but actually get what you pay for.

We got a great rate online--Praise the Lord!!!--a Friday night at a hotel in the DC area for only about $ a night (including taxes). This hotel is perfect for a family or individual who is going to DC (and of course will be spending most of their time sightseeing). It was comfortable, nice, in a safe neighborhood and the staff were friendly. It wasn't a ""luxury"" hotel but who really needs that. If you're in DC all you need is a nice, safe and comfortable place in a safe neighborhood to sleep in. The Metro Station with trains going into DC is close too, although we found it easier to drive and park than to walk to it. There are several restaurants nearby too which make this a convenient hotel. STAY HERE!!!!
